Ophelia's sides heaved as she dragged the limp body across the ashen ground. Following in the steps of the other hunters, the group slowly pulled the star-touched equines to be buried. Panting, she surveyed the corpses, sorrowful. The once vibrant bodies of ballators, with gleaming horns and shiny coats, were matted, thin, and covered with the strange crystals. "Ares, I need answers," she whispered to herself. She immediately laughed at her thought. Ares certainly would not have the answers, and neither would anyone else in the realm. Except for Aether, perhaps, but he was nowhere to be seen. She gently nudged one of the bodies, avoiding contact with the crystals. Who was this ballator? Did they have a family, a mate that was waiting for them? Why had the Red Star come, and what changes would it bring? She pricked her ears.
